Movytel, an IP telecommunications services provider, has announced that it will work with NetCentrex to deploy professional VoIP services in Italy.
"We're oriented toward a type of customer for whom it is essential we offer value added services," explained Movytel operations director Maurizio Vigano. In a VoIP market where prices are bottoming out compared to traditional telephony providers, "we decided to provide a solution that makes functional processes more efficient, and a technology that transforms the classic telephone into an intelligent device."
Movytel is targeting the market that wants a simplified VoIP implementation in their organization without replacing their existing telephony systems.
Naturally this plays well to SMEs, who can continue using their existing switchboard with the added lure of lower phone bills as they replace phones with ones that do not require a switchboard.
Italian VoIP is steaming along. Lucent Technologies recently announced that Enterprise Digital Architects, an Italian information and communications technology consulting and integration company, will deploy Lucent"s enterprise VoIP to its 4.000 business and government customers.
And British Telecom subsidiary Albacom, Italys largest business communications carrier, has announced they're jumping into VoIP with the statement that it has chosen a joint offering from Italtel and Cisco to transform its network into a VoIP network. Company officials called it the first step towards the future inclusion of convergent services targeted to enterprise customers.
Movytel product manager Marcello Degasperi believes the days of the classic telephone for Italian SMEs are numbered: "VoIP telephony systems will inevitably replace current telephony systems because they offer more functions and are easier to install," he said.
Founded in July 2004, Movytel's almost a year old. The company specializes in IP telecommunication services. Gianmario Rossignolo, the CEO was CEO of Telecom Italia, Lancia and Zanussi.
The company has decided to focus mainly on SMEs and the SOHO market, with value added IP services.
