Veraz Networks, a global provider of softswitch-based packet telephony solutions, announced Tuesday that it has received the 2005 Frost & Sullivan award for Product Line Strategy in Global Carrier Infrastructure.

According to a company statement, Veraz has been recognized for "its excellence in constantly introducing new products and product line categories that have strategically improved its position in the highly competitive and price-sensitive global carrier infrastructure market."

"Following numerous industry interviews with suppliers and experts, and then gathering and comparing customer demands, Veraz was selected as top-ranking in the Product Line Category for Global Carrier Infrastructure," said Frost & Sullivan Senior Analyst Lynda Starr in a prepared statement. "Veraz's VoIP solution is comprehensive with a softswitch and service delivery platform as well as a portfolio of high-compression media gateways that combined, enables service providers to migrate to IP. Further, Veraz is continuously aware of its customers' diverse needs providing flexibility based on an open platform with multi-protocol and multi-vendor support."

Included in the company's product offering are the Veraz ControlSwitch softswitch and service delivery platform, the I-Gate 4,000 family of media gateways and third-party application servers and media servers.

Veraz recently updated its ControlSwitch with new elements for subscriber management, services and device mobility, according to the company statement.

This is not the first time Veraz has been recognized by Frost & Sullivan. Indeed, the San Jose, Calif.-based company earned Frost & Sullivan's Voice over Packet Executive Team of the Year Award in 2004.

"To be recognized for the second consecutive year by an industry leader such as Frost & Sullivan is truly an honor for us," said Veraz CEO Doug Sabella in a prepared statement. "Veraz aims to consistently introduce new products that allow our customers to grow and deliver service that is both of the highest quality and fiscally sensitive."

Veraz has delivered products to over 700 customers in 140 countries, according to the company statement.
