Faxing over VoIP Brings Significant Advantages to Today's Businesses

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

While once argued to be a dying technology, faxing is actually here to stay. And, in a world where the convergence of voice and data networking is the future of telecommunications. As high-bandwidth networks are becoming more common, the advantages to be gained by a converged data/voice networking infrastructure are becoming available to companies of all sizes.

Businesses send and receive billions of faxes each year. For many, the current state of the art fax technology is the network fax server. In such an environment, the IT department installs necessary software and decides on the number of servers depending on the needs of the organization. With the proliferation of VoIP-capable network routers and switches, companies looking to leverage network fax can look to Fax over IP or FoIP.

FaxBack, Inc., has released a white paper, The Essential Guide to Fax over VoIP to guide the enterprise or SMB in the selection and implementation of a FoIP solution. This white paper covers the realities of Fax over IP, the three different ways to connect, and the greater flexibility that such a solution can provide.

It has not been that long ago that faxing required an individual to print a hard copy and walk it to the fax machine to manually send documents via a traditional landline. Faxing is still an important part of business today and the level of technology available for faxing makes the delivery of documents via a fax a much higher-quality, secure, easily manageable aspect of the information delivery model for today’s business.

The link provided above will grant access to this white paper in full. An in-depth look at the faxing technology today could provide your business with the understanding needed to implement the system your business demands.

Want to learn more about Internet faxing? Then be sure to check out TMCnet’s White Paper Library, which provides a selection of in-depth information on relevant topics affecting the IP Communications industry. The library offers white papers, case studies and other documents which are free to registered users. The papers are authored by industry leaders, who, in turn, receive qualified sales leads from interested parties.
