Celergy Networks has completed the design and installation of structured cabling to support an enhanced Voice-over-IP
emergency communications system for fire protection services at Edwards Air Force Base.
Covering more than 300,000 acres in Southern California, Edwards Air Force Base is one of the largest Air Force Bases in the United States. This Air Force Base accommodates more than 5,909 people, 1,678 households, and 1,515 families.
Five fire stations and 115 firefighters at the base provide protection to homes, businesses, aircraft hangars, Air Force administration buildings and structures that house critical military research projects.
A comprehensive system was designed an installed by Celergy Networks that provides enhanced communications between the base’s central 911 emergency dispatch system and the widely distributed fire stations.
According to C.R. Eckroth, Edwards Air Force Base Fire inspector and logistics officer their old communications system was outdated, in disrepair and actually hampered their response time.
The Edwards Air Force Base has very complex system needs, and critical information has to move instantaneously across their entire network. Celergy Networks customized a system that can provide varying levels of emergency notification to one or more of the fire stations, depending on each situation.
“Celergy Networks was great to work with. The system has been in place for several months and we've seen a dramatic improvement in the flow of information and response times,” said Eckroth in a
press release.
Celergy Networks president and COO Frank DeJoy feels honored to be selected by Edwards Air Force Base and said that their company is very proud of the improvements their network installation team was able to bring to the base's emergency response system.
Celergy Networks was founded in 1989 to offer businesses a single-source provider for wired and wireless voice, data and network infrastructure.
For more than 50 years Edwards Air Force Base - home of the Air Force Flight Test Center - has been the home of more major milestones in flight than any other place on earth.
