Netmobo Launches Developer Solution to Deliver New Revenue Models

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The first and only solution designed to allow mobile app developers to take advantage of new revenue models through flexible pricing, charging, payment and customer usage controls on a cloud-based infrastructure is now available from Netmobo.

The provider of infrastructure-as-a-service solutions for mobile app developers designed this solution to work across all smartphones and devices, including the iPhone, iPad and Android (News - Alert). As one of only 10 companies selected for the GigaOM’s LaunchPad, Netmobo is set to announce a public beta of its service at Mobilize on September 30.

As a result of this solution, app developers gain the ability to perform sophisticated transaction management capabilities not currently available in a cloud-based platform. Developers using Netmobo solutions can tailor pricing for specific users, meter app usage in real-time, enable payment aggregation and create event triggers based on account usage. Developers can also use Netmobo to unify customer activities across apps, app stores and devices.

Netmobo’s platform is currently being used by GridMOB, a develop of iPhone (News - Alert) apps, to provide Funny Call app customers with flexible pricing and balance management.

“The Netmobo platform allowed us to launch an enterprise-grade balance management solution supporting hundreds of thousands of end users in just a few days,” said Les Boursai, president, GridMOB, in a statement.  “Without Netmobo, we would have had to spend significant resources to arrive at a comparable end product.  Netmobo’s solution scales to meet our business needs and is an excellent option for us."

By expanding payment collection options beyond traditional credit card and Paypal methods, Netmobo is extending solutions by partners such as BilltoMobile, PayNearMe and Ukash. BilltoMobile enables mobile payments without a credit card; PayNearMe allows end users to make cash payments through 7-Eleven stores; and Ukash allows users to purchase apps using unique voucher codes they purchase at more than 420,000 locations throughout the world.

“The bottom line is that Netmobo’s platform helps mobile application developers to sell more, faster.  Our customers can provide a better experience to their end users, and improve monetization with minimal cost and effort,” said Eric Hernaez (News - Alert), chief executive officer, Netmobo. “The Netmobo infrastructure-as-a-service model provides an alternative to the build or buy decisions that app developers would otherwise confront.”

In using the Netmobo solution, developers can tailor product pricing to different customer segments; interact with customers in real-time with customer-specific promotional offers; offer subscriptions with real metering; aggregate payments to reduce costs; own end-user data and store user payment account information; give users a single prepaid or post-paid balance; provide detailed, timely and relevant analytics; and provide fraud detection and risk management capabilities.

With so many options to leverage payments more easily from customers, app developers are sure to capture the value of this solution right away. As apps continue to proliferate the market, we shouldn’t be surprised if Netmobo’s efforts are duplicated by competitors seeking to capitalize on this growing segment.
