Master Agent TBI: Business Booming Thanks to Recession

In a down economy, most businesses go through a period of reduced labor, cost-cutting and ultimately have to do more with less, while others are able to actually perform better. Master agent Telecom Brokerage (News - Alert) Inc. is an example of the latter.

 

A major boon for the company is a recent channel marketing partnership with ADTRAN Inc. According to company officials, the agreement will help promote TBI’s multicarrier portfolio of connectivity solutions to ADTRAN’s (News - Alert) 2,000-plus value-added resellers and gear to TBI’s more than 1,000 subagents. In a recent interview with TBI Senior Vice President Ken Mercer, he reflected on 2009 and predicted how the company will advance in the new year. Our exchange follows:

 

 

KM: TBI exceeded its goals for 2009. Business is exceptional.

 

KM: Major products sold were MPLS WAN and integrated access T-1 service. There are a lot more big Ethernet requests. We partnered with ADTRAN to co-market and sell the Netvanta 7100.

 

KM:  Our demand went up. People are willing to look at solutions, and they are more willing to changes providers for fewer saving. Our business has been booming due to the recession.

 

 

KM: Our partnership with ADTRAN is a recent hot topic. Having the blessing of one of the largest CPE providers to provide unbiased multiple carrier quotes is a huge honor for us.

 

KM: More business from more companies having budgets to make there networks and service more efficient. More agents entering the arena wanting a revenue stream they are completely in control of.
