Verizon Consumer ARPU Up 12.8 Percent
By Gary Kim, Contributing Editor
Verizon's third quarter 2008 revenue grew 4.1 percent, compared to AT&T's (
News -
Alert) increase of four percent.
Contributing to Verizon's performance was an increase of Verizon Business (
News -
Alert) quarterly revenue of 1.2 percent, compared to AT&T's business revenue increase of 0.3 percent.
Verizon also had stronger growth for its in-region consumer segment. Verizon saw 2.1 percent growth in this category, while AT&T suffered a 3.8 percent year-over-year decline.
Verizon also turned in a stronger average revenue per unit performance. Verizon ARPU grew 12.8 percent at Verizon and 4.3 percent at AT&T. One can argue that Verizon is doing better on the ARPU front because of revenues contributed by FiOS.
