VidyoConferencing: An Affordable Way to Do Business

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

According to Wainhouse Research, the video conferencing market is worth $1 billion. Multiply that huge amount by ten and that is what the market is worth once desktop video systems are added.

One of the newest companies in the growing video conferencing market is Hackensack, New Jersey-based Vidyo (News - Alert). Enabling seamless integration of room and desktop video conferencing across general-purpose IP networks, Vidyo will be the first company to provide SVC-enabled solutions for the enterprise market.

Vidyo will be showcasing its HD video conferencing solution, VidyoConferencing, at DEMO 09, to be held in Palm Desert, California, March 1-3, 2009.

At DEMO 09, Vidyo will demonstrate how VidyoConferencing enables HD-quality video conferencing over IP networks across a wide range of environments- from the home-office desktop to a corporate setting.

With VidyoConferencing, each endpoint receives the highest quality video it is able to manage. According to Vidyo, this solution also symbolizes the first commercial use of H.264 /SVC, an important new video compression technology that enables a distributed, Internet-based way to replace expensive, compute intensive MCUs with streamlined, compact VidyoRouters.

DEMO experts claim that, “Vidyo changes the architecture of teleconferencing communications to dynamically deliver content according to the connection and resources of each participant’s system.”

Vidyo’s conferencing router technology enables high-quality teleconferencing on any IP network, while dramatically cutting deployment and maintenance costs. This makes video conferencing an ideal solution for not just the corporate business world, but also for entrepreneurs working from a home office desktop computer.

In addition to presenting on stage at the event, Vidyo will also get a chance to rise to the event’s Demonstrator Pavilion, where its HD video conferencing products may be test-driven and further showcased.

After Vidyo demonstrated its technology in January, the company has been busy staying ahead of the competition, while signing resellers and video conferencing service providers in Europe. In the U.S., Vidyo is gaining attention from financial firms, consulting companies, government agencies, and universities.

Vidyo only started shipping its video conferencing-over-IP system in March, and won the startup category in this year's Best Of Interop (News - Alert) competition in April.

Striving to make affordable, high-quality video conferencing an option for more companies, Vidyo is sure to set the bar for HD video conferencing solutions.
