Taqua Announces Integration of Voicemail into Taqua 7000 Switching System

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Taqua, a provider of end-office switching systems and applications, recently announced the integration of VoiceMail into its standard Taqua (News - Alert) 7000 (T7000) switching system solutions along with an optional Web-based subscriber control system.

The Taqua 7000 Switching System (T7000) is a blade-based advanced end-office soft switch that offers access to a wide-array of IP and circuit-based business and residential Class 5 switch features. The system is based on patented “switch-on-a-card” design. Each interface card on the switching system (T7000) performs all of the functions that are required of a Class 5, end-office switch.

The standard T7000 incorporates dedicated resources for call processing, service logic, switch fabric, media processing and signaling. The whole switching system is managed together as a single T7000 network element. These single intelligent interface cards offers flexible "pooled" resource of capacity and applications, said Taqua.

According to Taqua, the standard T7000 supports a wide variety of protocols such as SS7, SIP, MGCP, GR-303, CAS, NCS, PRI and others over line, trunk or IP interfaces. It includes a mobile interface card in a gateway-like chassis, thereby offering wireline legacy, broadband and wireless (2G, 3G or 4G) subscribers with the capability to economically deliver omnipresent services.

With the integration of voicemail into standard T7000, the company offers all VoIP- or time division multiplexing (TDM)-based T7000 customers with cost effective voicemail option- under the brand name of TaquaMail.

Taqua said its TaquaMail is a comprehensive voicemail platform that enables flexible subscriber interface options. This voicemail platform can be managed by subscribers through circuit or packet based telephone handsets - for navigating intuitive voice prompts when recording greetings, and retrieving messages.

Other key feature of the TaquaMail includes the ability to receive e-mail notifications or messages with the voicemail attached as a wave file. Now, being the integrated part of T7000 switching solution – it can be activated with the purchase of subscriber licenses. This facilitates subscribers with low-cost standard for voicemail offerings with next-generation switching, says company.

The company has as well introduced an optional Web-based portal, TaquaPortal. This is a low cost solution that facilitates subscriber with control of telephony features and message management, says company. The Web-based portal also allows users to control specific call features such as voice mail retrieve, call forwarding, selective call forwarding, anonymous call reject and access to call history and group directories.

Scott Weidenfeller, chief marketing officer at Taqua, said, “TaquaMail and TaquaPortal were designed to be an integrated, low cost voicemail alternative for the service provider looking to deploy next-generation switching systems but don’t immediately require more advanced voice messaging services that are available with TaquaWorks enhanced services platform.”

Weidenfeller added: “Taqua’s goal is to provide complete cost-effective solutions that fit the requirements of small and medium sized service providers in North America, regardless if they are deploying advanced services or if their business strategy is to offer more conventional voice services at lower costs.”
