Endwave Gains Development Contract from Nokia Siemens Networks

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributing Editor

Endwave Corporation, a provider of high-frequency RF solutions for mobile communications networks, has reportedly signed an agreement with Nokia Siemens Networks, a reputed supplier of mobile backhaul solutions, for the development of transmit-receive modules for Nokia Siemens Networks’ (News - Alert) FlexiPacket Microwave backhaul radios.

These radios, as mentioned by the company, represent the next generation in Nokia Siemens Networks’ Flexi series of products. Endwave’s (News - Alert) modules is said to offer the high-frequency and intermediate-frequency signals in the system.

"This development contract is another significant chapter in our long relationship with Nokia Siemens Networks and its precursor companies,” said Ed Keible, president and chief executive officer at Endwave.

"Initial design work has demonstrated that the enhanced performance and cost targets of these next generation modules will be most effectively accomplished with Endwave’s proprietary RF-semiconductor designs,” mentioned Keible.

Nokia Siemens Networks offers a complete portfolio of mobile, fixed and converged network technology, as well as professional services including consultancy and systems integration, deployment, maintenance and managed services. It is one of the reputed telecommunications hardware, software and professional services companies in the world.

Launched in February 2009, Nokia Siemens Networks’ FlexiPacket Microwave backhaul radio combines Carrier Ethernet Transport with Microwave Radio with a unique approach, and at the same time also enables zero footprint base station solutions. This data centric approach, as claimed by the company, will allow operators to offer attractive pricing models for data intensive applications and also to offer the quality of service demanded.

It offers a capacity of up to 1 Gbit per second due to the adoption of the most advanced Microwave technology and thus FlexiPacket Radio is stated to be the ideal basis for the implementation of HSPA+, WiMax and LTE (News - Alert).
