Speakeasy Launches Integrated Voice over Ethernet Service

By Jyothi Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Speakeasy, a leading broadband voice (VoIP), data and IT service provider, has launched a new Integrated Voice over Ethernet joining its full line of integrated voice and data services.

This new service is designed to help small to midsized businesses with customizable, integrated voice and data options to fit their company size and budget. Company is offering Integrated Voice over Ethernet at 3 Mbps, 5 Mbps or 10 Mbps symmetrical bandwidth, in addition to its Integrated Voice service over T1 and ADSL2 broadband.

Officials at Speakeasy (News - Alert) say that the new service unite the voice, data, local calling and long distance over a single circuit that helps companies to save up to 45 percent over traditional phone service. It can even support up to 48 concurrent calls in a single location with maximum symmetrical bandwidth up to 10 Mbps.

"In this economy, our customers are always looking for innovative ways to reduce costs and get the best value for their telecom dollar," said Bruce Chatterley, Speakeasy President and CEO. "Speakeasy's Integrated Voice over Ethernet provides businesses with tremendous savings over traditional telecom service and allows Speakeasy to serve a broader market, accommodating both larger and higher traffic users of voice and data."

Speakeasy utilizes G.729 as its primary voice codec for Integrated Voice solutions that allows a significant reduction in bandwidth usage per call compared to channelized PRIs, or G.711, which is common with other integrated access providers. This delivers more available bandwidth for data usage and allows business to support voice and data needs with fewer bandwidth circuits and, therefore, lower costs, says the company.

Calls between locations using Speakeasy Voice are free and low long distance calling plans costs less than two cents/min - with carry forward minutes to preserve any unused minutes from month to month.

In addition, company offers other services such as Auto Attendant, Hunt Groups and other enhanced features as part of Speakeasy's hosted VoIP network along with the new service.

Also, Speakeasy integrates voice and data through analog lines, digital lines and/or directly to IP PBX (News - Alert) systems through its direct SIP capability. Special discount is offered on analog lines and trunks through March 31, 2009, providing up to 40 percent savings on individual trunk prices, says the company.
