By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Tango Networks announced that its voice-call continuity (VCC) capability of the new version of the Tango Networks Abrazo is compliant with key IP telephony solutions from Avaya.

Tango’s Abrazo enables businesses to offer the power and functionality of their Avaya (News - Alert) communications system to any mobile phone optimizing their fixed voice infrastructure. The Tango Abrazo 4.0 is now certified “Avaya compliant” and it includes VCC capabilities, enabling uninterrupted calls as the caller transitions between Voice over Wi-Fi and mobile networks.

Tango Abrazo has been tested for compliance by Avaya with Avaya S8300 Server, Avaya Communication Manager, Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) Enablement Services, Application Enablement Services, Modular Messaging, and INTUITY AUDIX Messaging Application.

In addition, Tango Abrazo has been tested with the Avaya 2400 Series Digital Phones and the Avaya 1600, 4600 AND 9600 Series IP Telephones.

“Avaya is a key player in the global enterprise voice communications ecosystem. This compliance ensures Avaya customers seamless, simple to use, cost-effective interoperability with Tango Networks’ Abrazo to add fixed-mobile convergence to their voice infrastructures, improving productivity, accessibility and mobility throughout their organization,” said Andrew Silver, co-founder and chief technology officer for Tango Networks.

Silver continued: “This product release applies Tango’s fresh hybrid approach to the industry’s VCC standard, enabling mobile calls to be controlled by the PBX (News - Alert). The enterprise now has the ability to manage mobility policy within its own network, while the mobile operator provides optimized anytime, anywhere mobile unified communications availability.”

Tango Networks integrates mobile phones into corporate enterprises’ unified communications or PBX networks. Tango’s Abrazo offers cost savings and control over the mobile service, offering advanced desk phone capabilities on any mobile device. Abrazo is capable of leveraging fixed-mobile convergence, fixed-mobile substitution and unified communications to meet the business and technology needs of enterprises.

Tango Networks is an Avaya DevConnect program Gold member. DevConnect (News - Alert) is an initiative to develop market and sell innovative third-party products which interoperate with Avaya technology.

Avaya compliance gives businesses confidence in adding new capabilities to their networks without replacing their existing infrastructure. This reduces time to deploy new applications besides reducing network complexity and cost of implementation.
Eric Rossman, vice president of developer relations and technical alliances at Avaya, explained that companies like Tango Networks are expanding the choices available to Avaya customers. The broad selection of standards-based solutions is compliance-tested for interoperability so that businesses can enhance business communications for optimizing their operations and make critical information available to both clients and employees easily.
