Anue Systems, a network delay and impairment emulation company has announced that it has joined the
VoIP Consortium at the
University of New Hampshire Interoperability Lab (UNH-IOL), a collaborative testing program for VoIP products. The program brings together members and industry to foster interoperability among VoIP products and increase the market feasibility of VoIP technology.
Anue also announced that its GEM Ethernet
Network Emulator will be used by the VoIP lab as a key test equipment component for the validation of conformance to standards and cross-vendor interoperability of VoIP products.
Products tested within the VoIP Consortium include SIP User Agents; VoIP ATA’s, home gateways and integrated access devices; VoIP system chipsets; Proxy Servers; Media Gateways; and VoIP Test Equipment.
Lincoln Lavoie, senior engineer, UNH-IOL, noted that the organization is excited to have Anue on board as a full member of IOL. The GEM Emulator has been extremely valuable to the group in testing sensitivity of VoIP applications to various network conditions in order to establish, maintain and optimize VoIP performance and availability.
According to Hemo Thacker, president and CEO of Anue Systems, Anue Network Emulators excel at testing the impact of network delays, impairments, traffic shaping and QoS parameters on the performance of VoIP. Because of this, customers around the world are using Anue in their labs to ensure an acceptable customer experience and MOS rating prior to live VoIP deployment.
The UNH-IOL has been testing networking and data communications products since 1988. The laboratory was established with the intention of providing a neutral environment to foster multi-vendor interoperability and conformance to data communications networking standards while also educating students for future employment in the industry.
Anue Network Emulators are designed to bring real world network conditions to the test lab and thus increase time to market of new applications. The company’s hardware-based emulator provides maximum precision and repeatability as well as full line rate performance that increases the confidence of the final deployed solution.
Interoperability is an area of key focus for those that are driving VoIP adoption. In order for VoIP to continue with the momentum that it has accumulated as of late, different products must be interoperable in order for the market to remain competitive to keep prices low and services high.
Anue has proven its value with its Network Emulators and its membership in the VoIP Consortium will only lend more value to the advancement of VoIP throughout multiple industries. As services are improving and more customers are beginning to understand the advantages of VoIP, continued focus on standards and interoperability will be vital to the continued success and adoption of the technology.
