Acme Packet Opens New Offices in EMEA to Support its Growing Customer Base in the Region

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

Acme Packet (News - Alert), Inc. has reportedly opened new offices in Europe and the Middle East to support its growing customer base and increased use of interactive IP communications services in the region. Acme Packet, Inc. enables the delivery of trusted, interactive communications sessions and data services across IP network borders.

The new offices facilitate Acme Packet’s ability to service and support in-region global 2000 companies that are looking to leverage session border controllers (SBCs) to secure large enterprise networks. In addition, the new office locations provide pre-sales, sales, and system engineering technical service for Acme Packet’s growing customer base in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Acme Packet has a physical presence in 14 countries across the region. In addition, Acme Packet has expanded its facilities in Madrid, Spain, to include a training facility for customers and partners, a lab environment for interoperability testing, engineering support and enhanced technical support from the location.

A recent Carrier IP Telephony Session Border Controller report by Dell’ (News - Alert)Oro Group states that Acme Packet is the world’s leading provider of SBCs with 73 percent market share in EMEA for the calendar year 2008. In EMEA, a total of 275 customers have deployed Acme Packet’s market-leading SBCs. This figure includes 24 of the top 25 service providers in the region. Acme Packet’s customers in EMEA account for 35 percent of the company’s total number of customers throughout the world.

In a release, Andy Ory, president, CEO and co-founder of Acme Packet, said as the market for trusted, secure, interactive IP communication services, SIP trunking and VoIP peering in EMEA is growing, Acme Packet is well positioned to capture this opportunity and serve its growing customer base of service providers and enterprises. Ory added that they look forward to expanding the company’s range and reach into new markets and forming stronger relationships with customers, systems integration and distribution channels and complementary product partners.

Acme Packet’s Net-Net family of session border controllers, multiservice security gateways and session routing proxies support multiple applications in service provider, enterprise, government and contact center networks. They satisfy critical security, service assurance and regulatory requirements in wireline, cable and wireless networks; support multiple protocols and multiple border points as well as enterprise access and trunking.
