Mail.Ru Deploys GIPS VoIP Solution

Global IP Solutions (News - Alert) (GIPS) has announced that Mail.Ru, a Web portal of the Russian Internet, will use GIPS' VoIP technology in its instant messaging application Mail.Ru Agent.

 

As per the agreement, GIPS' VoiceEngine will be embedded inside the Mail.Ru Agent, starting with version 5.2. This will allow “affordable” calls to stationary and mobile phones.

 

Anna Artamonova, vice president of marketing at Mail.Ru, said that the VoIP is a strategic component of Mail.Ru Agent development, which is why it was critical to choose the best VoIP solution provider in the marketplace.

 

He also said that this collaboration with GIPS will significantly improve the voice quality of the Mail.Ru Agent for PC-to-PC calls, as well as telephone calls to both landlines and cell phones.

In August, the company said that it is enabling VoIP for Apple’s (News - Alert) iPhone. Using GIPS VoiceEngine Mobile, iPhone application developers can integrate VoIP applications, making it easier for consumers to enjoy their iPhone games, applications and social networking experiences.
