AIRAYA Launches MIMO-based WirelessGRID-300 Outdoor Radio

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributing Editor

AIRAYA, specializing in the design and development of fast and predictable outdoor wireless point-to-point and multipoint backhaul products, has announced the launch of its MIMO-based WirelessGRID-300 outdoor wireless radios. These ensure optimum backhaul (point-to-point) and multipoint backhaul networks which operate in the 4.94 to 5.85 GHz frequency range.

WirelessGRID-300 outdoor radios employ MIMO/OFDM technology and are especially designed to be used for public safety, government and enterprise networks. They provide secure high-bandwidth, low-latency connectivity for video, data and voice communications.

The WirelessGRID-300 features a 3 x 3:2 MIMO OFDM Radio useful in Line of Sight and Near Line of Sight Applications. It also has a SecureRF layered security architecture for authenticated, 128-bit AES encrypted communication besides QoS and VLAN termination/management for traffic shaping, link optimization and logical network segmentation.

A real-time antenna alignment tool for easy installation and monitoring via Web, Telnet and SNMP and Gigabit PoE Interface for reliable remote power and gigabit Ethernet interface for outdoor radios located up to 300 ft from power and network is also provided. The WirelessGRID-300 is useful up to distances of 30 miles and offers TCP/IP data rates of up to 100 Mbps using 300 Mbps radios and external antennas.

Mike Nydam (News - Alert), president and CEO of AIRAYA, said, “We have been asked by many of our customers to provide an extremely reliable, high-capacity backhaul system for the thousands of wireless video, service provider, and enterprise networks we have installed today. These demanding environments require both high reliability and speed to keep critical infrastructure running smoothly.”

“Utilizing the latest MIMO OFDM radio technology and our extensive software expertise, we’ve created a cost-effective solution to service this market with our new advanced radio communication system, the WirelessGRID-300,” he added.

The WirelessGRID-300 is suitable for several applications including rural broadband service infrastructure, video surveillance point-to-pint and multipoint backhaul, WiMAX (News - Alert) BTS high-capacity backhaul and in wireless ISP infrastructure backhaul.

It finds applications in building-to-building connectivity at fast Ethernet speeds and is a cost-effective alternative for legacy microwave links. It provides WISP Internet POP for remote areas also and is a reliable backup for high-speed FSO and millimeter-wave links or fiber lines.

California-based AIRAYA enables integration between multiple networking architectures and higher level encryption systems which will work with both legacy systems and advanced networks. AIRAYA offers high-speed, predictable, secure, scalable and flexible broadband wireless products besides ensuring expert technical support and service.
