Agilent Technologies Intros Handset Analytics Application for Operators

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Agilent (News - Alert) Technologies introduced a comprehensive reporting application for handset revenue analytics. This tool lets operators evaluate the performance and popularity of specific handsets over time. Based on Agilent's new data warehousing and reporting platform for mobile broadband networks, this is the first assureME Intelligence reporting tool.

Using the application, operators can decide on the proper configuration, data download capacity, and connection capacity to the network. They can also determine whether it’s actually the handset type the customer has specified. Operators can also protect their revenues by identifying handsets that prevent customers from using high-value services.
“Agilent's new business reporting capability and framework is really a marketer's dream,” said  Neil Haydon, worldwide marketing manager at Agilent’s assurance solutions division, in a statement. “Operators can determine what services are making money, which customers are the most valuable, what these customers like, and generally, where to focus investments and cut losses.”
Haydon continued: “All of this can be accomplished with customized reports that link the information in individual TDRs with data from business support systems. Agilent and its partner Teradata Corporation have truly mastered the huge data volumes in mobile broadband network, both from an operational and a business perspective.”
Using Agilent’s application, operators can build their advertising and promotions to directly speak to customers. The ongoing calling location information can be used to make informed decisions about the placement of billboards or open stores. The popularity of third-party services can also be measured with this tool.
The application includes new handset revenue analytics based on Agilent's updated operational-support-system (OSS) data-warehousing and reporting platform. The platform can handle more than two billion transaction detail records per day.
Operators can use numerical data such as phone numbers within individual records and enhance the capabilities of handset revenue analytics in areas like billing, customer care and other support systems. With this, the revenue generated by customers can be measured and the services and downloads they use can be understood.
