VoIP Equipment Provider Saw Potential in VoIP Early On

Buffalo, N.Y.-based VoIP Supply, a division of Sayers Technology Holdings, is a supplier of  VoIP equipment and complete systems for businesses, service providers and resellers in North America.



 
To find out more about the company, their background, and what makes them unique from the competition, I took some time to chat with Garrett Smith (News - Alert), director of Business marketing and development at VoIP Supply.
 
During our podcast, Smith noted that while the company originally started out as a software company, the founder and current CEO, Benjamin Sayers, realized early on he “wanted to do something different” and began with IT asset management.
 
Specifically, Smith said, that in 2002, with the .com bust, there was a lot of used and excess networking infrastructure equipment, and through this, the company came to find a very underserved market that was demanding VoIP equipment
 
After launching the company’s VoIPSupply (News - Alert).com Web-based storefront, things just “took off,” Smith said.
 
“We’ve had a tremendous amount of growth – we’ve been on the Inc. 500/5000 list 3 years in a row, we’ve been named a CRN 100 Solution provider as well named an Entrepreneur Hot 100 company. It has been an awesome ride for us and to see the industry from where it first started to where it is today.”
 
Along with offering VoIP equipment solutions, Smith said their competitive differentiator is that the company is more than “just a Web store.”
 
“A lot of people see VoIPSupply.com and that you can buy products right off the Web site and lump us into the “online retailer” category, but VoIP Supply is more than just a Web store,  the key differentiator for us is that we want you to call in and talk to one of our sales reps or service reps or someone in our tech support department.”
 
“At the end of the day, you can buy products just about anywhere. But, who is going to be there help you before the sale, help you after the sale, and continue to be there throughout the years to make sure that this product is up and running and everything is going smoothly. That’s what we bring to the table, that’s our competitive differentiator, and that’s why we’ve been so successful over the last seven years.”
