Russian Company Selects VocalTec Technology to Further Develop its VoIP Network

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Russian Company, an alternative carrier in Russia, has selected VocalTec's technology to further develop its VoIP network.

VocalTec (News - Alert) officials said that with the help of their technology, Russian Company would be able to seamlessly connect its legacy telephony network with its new packet-based network.

The deployment was achieved in partnership with Sintera, a leading Russian systems integrator.

Sintera LLC has been operating in the market as a network and telecommunication equipment supplier and systems integrator for more than six years.

As part of its VoIP infrastructure, Russian Company will deploy VocalTec’s Essentra BAX, an application server enabling the delivery of residential and hosted enterprise VoIP services to their subscriber base.

Russian Company will also utilize VocalTec’s Essentra CX, a scalable carrier-grade media gateway controller, to enable the termination of their IP traffic to the PSTN as well as for the termination of legacy PABX traffic to PSTN by CX (IUA and M3UA).

"We are very much impressed by VocalTec's high-quality solutions," said Alexander Astrahanchev, general manager at Sintera.

Astrahanchev said the Russian Company will now be able to bring cutting-edge communication services to its customers. VocalTec enables the company to remain at the technological forefront of VoIP by its continuous introduction of new and improved applications to the marketplace, he added.

"We look forward to expanding Sintera's service offering with our end-to-end solutions, as well as leveraging Sinetra’s deep knowledge of the Russian market to increase our presence in the region," said Ido Gur, president and CEO of VocalTec.

Gur said Russia is a strategic market for VocalTec and he strongly believes that Sintera's experience as a leading systems integrator in Russia coupled with VocalTec's capabilities in VoIP technology is a winning combination.

VocalTec Communications is a global provider of carrier-class multimedia and voice-over-IP solutions for communication service providers.
VocalTec provides proven trunking, peering and residential/enterprise VoIP application solutions that enable flexible deployment of next-generation networks (NGNs).

TMCnet in February reported that VMB, a city carrier in St. Petersburg, Russia, had selected VocalTec’s solutions for its VoIP network roll-out.
The Eastern European company said it plans to offer customers new services based on a field-proven VoIP network, while at the same time reducing costs, enhancing flexibility and increasing network efficiencies.

The deployment of the solution, performed in partnership with SATEL, is focused around the migration of VMB’s infrastructure into an advanced packet-based Class 4 and Class 5 network.
