StreamWIDE Chosen for BOUYGUES' Multiple Play Offer

By Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor

BOUYGUES TELECOM and StreamWIDE (News - Alert) have teamed to launch BOUYGUES’ Multiple Play “BBOX” ADSL offer, which has been available since October 20, 2008.

Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL), a data communications technology, allows fast data transmission over copper telephone lines. Leveraging the flexibility of StreamWIDE’s solutions, BOUYGUES is able to expand in this competitive market.

The company depends on fixed-mobile convergent (FMC) messaging services that address their users’ communication needs, including free voicemail checking from the BBox line or from a Bouygues Telecom mobile phone via a single short number; visual Web interface for voicemail checking and service settings; and immediate e-mail and SMS notifications of new messages.

According to both company’s officials, this announcement is part of an already successful partnership between the two companies. StreamWIDE’s telephony solutions are reportedly used on a daily basis by companies that have subscribed to BOUYGUES’ professional offers.

Commenting on this announcement, Pierre-Claude Grall, vice president of sales in France for StreamWIDE, said that their expertise and experience in voicemail add further value to BOUYGUES’ ADSL offers and their company is pleased to do so.

“Thanks to the BBOX project, StreamWIDE is reaffirming its position as a key supplier of fixed-mobile convergent services and applications for Next Generation Networks (News - Alert),” added Pascal Beglin, CEO of StreamWIDE.

As TMCnet reported earlier this year, analyst firm, Dittberner forecasted three categories of Fixed Mobile Convergence (News - Alert) services to be most popular this year. The three included services based on dual-mode terminals (3G and WLAN), set or programmable automatic call forwarding (“Follow-me”), and home-zone pricing schemes.

In a comprehensive study that addressed the various business and marketing issues pertaining to fixed-mobile convergence, Dittberner concluded that FMC services may not generate any sizable incremental revenue particularly for full service carriers, but it could help integrated fixed-mobile carriers maintain or increase their market share, retain customers and even capture new mobile customers.
