IPtimize to Integrate Secure Signals GuardDog Solutions with Hosted IP

By Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributing Editor

IPtimize and Secure Signals have inked an agreement for cable operators to create a new revenue stream. In addition, the companies plan to combat illegal usage of their digital video, pay per view (PPV) and Internet Protocol (IP) services without incurring any expenses.

IPtimize is a broadband voice and data service provider focused on connecting, adapting and managing commercial and residential IP services for select industry channels.

Security Signals is a trailblazer in service theft solutions for the cable industry.

This latest agreement enables cable operators to take advantage of Secure Signals GuardDog DV theft solution and GuardDog IP fraud solutions for free.

“By integrating Secure Signals GuardDog solutions with IPtimize suite of hosted IP services, cable operators can aggressively address video and IP service theft and protect their profits,” said Ron Pitcock, chairman and CEO at IPtimize.

While GuardDog DV detects and manages non-responding set top boxes and identifies digital video and PPV service theft, the GuardDog IP is a turnkey network monitoring solution.

GuardDog IP leverages software technology powered by the ARRIS ServAssure platform to detect fraudulent use of IP services. According to Secure Signals, both versions of GuardDog integrate with cable operators’ networks and IPtimize hosted data and IP services to provide a streamlined solution.

In addition, once the GuardDog technologies are implemented, Secure Signals provides network monitoring of all set top boxes and DOCSIS-based consumer premises equipment (CPE) in the network.

This monitoring helps to detect DTV and PPV service theft and fraudulent IP use. Officials said that Secure Signals implements a customer-centric restitution program for identified illegal users.

The program pursues cash settlements and 2-year service agreements from them. The company does not charge a fee for the technology, network monitoring and restitution procurement. However, it receives a portion of the revenues generated from the fines and cash settlements it secures.

Stan McGinnis, founder and CEO of Secure Signals, said that Secure Signals GuardDog solutions provide IPtimize customers with a no cost, risk-free revenue opportunity, adding plus, GuardDog deters fraudulent activity by positioning the cable operator as tough on crime.
