British Gas Wins European Call Centre of The Year Award for Cardiff Call Center

British Gas has reportedly won the European Call Centre of the Year award for its call centre in Cardiff. In addition, British Gas has also won the “Best Centre to Work For” award.



 
The European Call Centre of the Year award is judged based on different aspects of how a call centre works such as encompassing training, quality and that extra special something that sets one centre apart from others. The independent judging panel for the awards consists of experienced call centre managers and coordinators, who know what makes a centre thrive.
 
British Gas provides ample opportunity for growth within the company. It also encourages employees to get involved in activities outside of the center, as well. In addition, the call centre provides bonuses and incentives to its workers, such as topping up their pay with optional schemes like healthcare insurance. Employees within the call centre are also encouraged to provide an excellent service.
 
Another reason for British Gas’ prosperity is its successful recruitment strategy. The call centre has been successful in recruiting candidates that are perfect for its centre.
 
British Gas provides jobs for workers in Cardiff. The investment British Gas makes in its people is also good for the area they work in since a stable company brings stability for the workers. Due to investment from companies like British Gas, the amount of telecommunication centers in South Wales has also risen sharply in recent years.
 
The judging panel for the European Call Centre of the Year award looked for the ‘X’ factor that sets the centre apart from its competition. In addition, judges looked for robust people processes that make the centre a pleasure to work for, including a well-thought-out recruitment strategy, effective training and coaching methods, 36-degree feedback for staff, and a focus on appropriate incentive programs.
 
A people-centric environment with effective communication vehicles, appropriate furniture (including sufficient break-out and meeting spaces), practical lighting design, and positive and cost-effective use of design and branding to create a general ambience are also necessary to be considered for the award.
