The WorldHotels portfolio includes properties worldwide, and "required a technology partner that was also truly global," company officials say.
"Presenting our portfolio with a technology partner is a huge benefit to our hotels," stated Michael Ball, CEO of WorldHotels. "As we increase our global brand awareness, we will require a standardized PMS platform to use more CRM capabilities."
Kaweh Niroomand, President of Micros EAME, said Micros offers local service and support in over 130 countries, and that "build all our products, including Opera, with the global community in mind, offering multi-lingual, multi-currency
products."
Last month Micros Systems announced that the European hotel chain Scandic selected the Micros Opera Enterprise Solution as its next generation central system product.
The implementation included the Opera Reservation System, Opera Customer Information System, and Opera Web Services Suite, all hosted in the Micros Datacenter located in Frankfurt.
Scandic, the largest hotel chain in the Nordic countries, has been a customer of Micros-Fidelio since 1993.
With the implementation of the Opera central product, Scandic hopes to be able to more efficiently manage its reservations among the sales and distribution channels, the international travel agency community and the central reservation offices. Scandic has also implemented the Opera Web Services Suite to add a new Internet Booking Engine integrated to the Opera Reservation System.
"Since our acquisition in 2007 by EQT, Scandic has placed a heavy focus on making profitable growth the number one priority. There is a great deal of energy within Scandic that is ready to drive our new growth," stated Frank Fiskers, President and CEO of Scandic.
