Sennheiser Intros Line of Kleer Home Audio HeadphonesBy Anshu Shrivastava, TMCnet Contributor Headsets provider Sennheiser has announced a new line of home audio headphones for music, TV, and home theatre based on Kleer’s wireless audio technology.
Kleer, a fabless semiconductor company, said that this announcement by Sennheiser marks the first in a series of home audio product announcements for 2009 from several prominent brands.
According to Maurice Quarré, head of product management consumer electronics at Sennheiser, the company has again selected Kleer wireless audio technology for its new RS wireless headphones.
“With Kleer’s digital radio transmission, which works without compression and therefore without any loss of audio quality, we can offer our customers wireless earphones without compromising the outstanding Sennheiser sound,” Quarré said.
Kleer said that the company is capitalizing on its high quality audio, whole home coverage, low latency, and point-to-multipoint connectivity in the home audio market.
In order to support multiple simultaneous audio streams in a home environment - where there may be multiple distributed audio sources and multiple headphones and speakers - new features have been introduced.
Kleer enables zoned audio systems, eliminating echo when speakers in different rooms are playing the same music stream, thanks to virtually zero differential latency in its point-to-multipoint configuration, said officials.
The company is also reducing absolute audio latency to 25msec, supporting new home theatre and stereo/surround speaker products expected to be introduced this year.
