Parrot Designs New Car Stereo System for iPhone, iPod

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

Parrot, a dealer in wireless peripheral for mobile phones, has reportedly designed a new car stereo system, the Parrot RKi8400 for both iPhone and iPod and intends to launch the product at the Frankfurt Auto Show.

According to Parrot, users can use the bundled music cable to connect the RKi8400 to iPod, iPhone (News - Alert) and USB MP3 players for music playback. The company has also equipped the product with the ability to stream audio from any Bluetooth A2DP device and play music from USB storage and SD cards.

The RKi8400 packs 4×50W MOSFET amplifiers, external adjustable double microphone with Parrot NR 3.0 noise reduction and echo cancellation and also features AM/FM tuners. The head unit comes with a 2.4-inch color display and a numeric pad and the product supports Bluetooth 2.0+EDR with Stereo A2DP, hands free and headset profiles so users can use it as a Bluetooth hands free system.

Parrot RKi8400 has a separate connection dedicated to iPhone and iPod, achieving the double official Apple (News - Alert) license ‘Made for iPod’ and ‘Works with iPhone’ and the user interface menu software is particularly convenient for using iPhone and iPod in car.

The RKi8400 features speech synthesis automatic synchronization with the phonebook and the integrated training-free voice recognition technology makes the user experience even easier. The built-in double microphone will let users steer clear of the background noise, both inside and outside the vehicle.

Henri Seydoux, founder and CEO of Parrot said that with the RKi8400, they have enabled users to take advantage of the iPhone in car through a system which is easy to use and full integrated in any vehicle. All iPhone functions – music, navigation of the music directory and play lists and Bluetooth phone capabilities have been adapted for in-car use. Parrot has applied its acoustic quality and voice recognition abilities to the iPhone, which will please even the most discerning listeners.

In other news, Parrot supplied hands-free Bluetooth solutions to Kenwood and launched the next-generation hands-free speakerphone, the Parrot MINIKIT Slim.
