iPhone GPS App, G-Map Offers Point On Map And 3D Real View

By Calvin Azuri, TMCnet Contributor

Feature-rich GPS navigation systems have started creating user experiences that are easier to understand and also make driving safer. G-Map, an Apple (News - Alert) iPhone GPS app, has two unique features among iPhone GPS systems, Point on Map and Real 3D View.

The "Point on Map" feature provides detailed location information for any spot on the map screen the user touches. The location information will even include the full address and the phone number, if available. G-Map will also instantly plot the route to the location. If the phone number is available, the user can call that number by touching the phone icon. If the point the user selects happens to be one of G-Map's points of interest, that information will be displayed as well.

G-Map has a powerful keyword search engine similar to Google search using keywords. The intuitive & easy-to-use graphic user interface perfectly matches iPhone (News - Alert) style. G-Map also contains diverse geographical options including the U.S. East, U.S. West, single or two State versions among others. The special cradle to be released for the iPhone will enhance its GPS reception and also charge the battery. G-Map is the only GPS app for iPhone that uses artificial intelligence routing. It enables flexible trip planning by adding as many waypoints as possible when creating a route and also has a reverse routing function. In addition, G-Map allows the display of favorites and point of interest icon on the View Map.

G-Map presents realistic renderings of complicated urban intersections and highway junctions with three-dimensional shading, of any iPhone GPS application. The renderings help users more easily recognize their surroundings so they can, along with the spoken guidance, make the correct turn. Driving with G-Map is safer and more comfortable than with systems which use map views that do not clearly indicate the exact turning point or lane to turn at complicated intersections.

The XRoad G-Map is the first real time, turn-by-turn GPS navigation for the iPhone. It is also the first on-board navigation application that can locate the current position and navigate to a destination without Wi-Fi and internet connection. According to Sean Lee, Marketing Director for XRoad GPS, with G-Map's realistic renderings of complicated intersections, what a user sees on his screen will closely match what he sees out his windshield.
