NTT DoCoMo (
News -
Alert), a Japanese company offering mobile communications, is testing a new prototype phone that offers features beyond communication needs.
The new phone will work as a personal trainer, wellness coach and secretary. It can take your pulse reading, check your body fat and tell you if you have bad breath. It can also time your jogs or, when you are tired or tensed up, soothe and inspire you with a pep talk.
Featuring a built-in motion sensor, the phone detects body movement and calculates how many calories are burned and can tell if the user is walking, running, climbing stairs or resting.
Users can also blow into a tiny hole on the side of the handset for about three seconds to know their breath status and check their stress level through a series questions followed by advice.
NTT DoCoMo and Mitsubishi (

Alert) Electric Corporation jointly developed the phone in a bid to keep very busy persons hassle-free and living a healthy life.
DoCoMo has yet to schedule a launch date or decide on a price but have said they will introduce the phone in Japan with no plans to sell it overseas in the near future.
In the future, NTT DoCoMo has also said they will aim to incorporate information gathered by all five senses to achieve an array of services far beyond anything envisaged to date.
