Westcon Group Selects AudioCodes Media Gateway Products for Solutions Programs
By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor
AudioCodes ( News - Alert), a provider of Voice over Packet (VOP) technologies and Voice Network products, and Westcon Group, a specialty distributor in networking, convergence, security and mobility, have announced that AudioCodes media gateway products have been selected for Westcon Group’s CollaborationPoint OpenSource and ConvergencePoint solutions programs.
With the combination of these two companies’ products, the program will be able to provider resellers with the ability to deliver business-class communication solutions to their end-user communities.
The latest addition to Westcon Group’s technology focused x-Point programs, CollaborationPoint OpenSource is being offered alongside ConvergencePoint, SecurityPoint and MobilityPoint.
AudioCodes’ media gateway products are designed to solve important connectivity challenges between next-generation enterprise IP communication solutions and a wide range of legacy PSTN circuits and analog phone equipment.
With this arrangement, Westcon Group will distribute a range of AudioCodes Mediant 1000, MediaPack and TrunkPack 260/SIP Gateway products for Nortel, Avaya, Microsoft ( News - Alert) Office Communications Server 2007, and offer Open Source specific solutions pre-integrated with open source software applications, including the popular Digium/Asterisk ( News - Alert) IP-PBX .
Beyond the gateway solutions, Westcon Group will also offer customized configurations that leverage the AudioCodes Mediant 1000 Open Solution Network processor module. This module includes an embedded PC processor, memory and storage, to allow the open source application to reside within the media gateway and enable a complete enterprise communications solution in a compact 1U form-factor appliance.
Lior Aldema, Vice President of Marketing and Product Management at AudioCodes, shared in a Monday statement, "Westcon's CollaborationPoint OpenSource and ConvergencePoint programs offer one-stop-shopping for enterprise solution resellers that want to sell sophisticated open source or commercial solutions while eliminating much of the integration risk that has kept many resellers on the sidelines.”
“These robust programs reduce risk and better position resellers who want to take advantage of these exciting new market opportunities," Aldema added.
"AudioCodes offers superior voice quality, broad interoperability, feature richness and diversity of PSTN protocols -- each of which is supported by their media gateways," commented Dan Pirro, Group Commercial Sales Manager, Westcon Group, Inc., in Monday’s statement.
"The quality and compatibility of these solutions will help us significantly broaden the range of possible deployments in complex enterprise applications."
Resellers have often sought the ability to provide solutions to customers that eliminated the risk associated with their solutions, especially in the customers’ perception. The combination of Westcon Group and AudioCodes better positions these resellers in the market, while also extending reach for each of these companies. In an intensely competitive industry, such positioning is critical to survival.
