TelcoBridges and TI Square Define the Future of Korean Communication Technologies

By Michelle Robart, TMCnet Editor

TelcoBridges (News - Alert) (News - Alert), a hardware and software supplier for telecom solution developers, today announced that solution provider TI Square of Korea is using TelcoBridges’ telecom platform to deliver a voice, 3G video and MMS-based applications to Korean mobile operator, Korea Telecom (News - Alert) Freetel (KTF).

KTF’s 3G (W-CDMA) Video Special Call Service provides video messaging, call recording, and voice analysis capabilities that calculate voice patterns and estimate the sincerity of the caller.  Packaged and sold as the “SHOW Love Detector" and the “SHOW Lie Detector,” these fee-based video calling services - which are rapidly gaining popularity throughout Korea - allow users to perform mobile video conferences that feature a "love meter" on the screen of their handset during the conversation.

At the end of the call, users receive an MMS-based analysis of the conversation, which details the level of surprise, concentration and honesty of the speaker. This Value Added Service is given to subscribers on an unlimited-use basis, for a set monthly fee.

TI Square Technology, a developer of core network solutions, Value Added Solutions, and special messaging solutions for mobile carriers in Korea and around the world, will leverage TelcoBridges’ highly-scalable telecom platform along with its own application software to provide this service to KTF.  TelcoBridges’ TB-Video gateway controls the video calling functions needed to provide a 3G upgraded version of the Video call and the real-time “Love Detector” graphs displayed on the handset screen during the 3G video phone conversations.

“We are proud of being the first company in the world to create this video service using TelcoBridges’ technology.” said Gil Soo Lee, President and CEO of TI Square. “We will also continue to have new video projects along the same lines of this successful deployment.”

TelcoBridges’ TB-Video gateway technology provides the scalability that KTF requires in order to supports millions of potential subscribers.  Its high-availability architecture provides the reliability needed to avoid dropped video calls.  In addition, TelcoBridges’ flexibility provides SS7 and ISDN support to connect to any network, and also supports an array of applications such as Mobile TV, Video-mail, Video Clip Streaming, Video Ringback tones, and a host of other applications.

“KTF’s deployment is a first-of-its-kind offering that enhances the company’s brand, and provides new revenue generating services that KTF's customers are excited about,”  said Gaetan Campeau (News - Alert), President of TelcoBridges. “This successful deployment, built on our telecom platform, is a role model for mobile operators around the globe to follow.”
