Exa Networks Launches New IT/IP Communications Networking and Connectivity Service

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

A Yorkshire-based Internet service provider, Exa Networks, launched a unique new IT and IP communications networking service called Exa Static 3G that provides computer-users with all the advantages of mobile broadband with the added opportunity to access secure home, base or local networks along with Internet content filtering services. The three-in-one product offering provides a wide range of services, as well as benefits to Exa Networks customers.

Exa Networks is comprised of a 16 member staff and specializes in IT connectivity, networking and specialist software for businesses and the education sector.

In a press release, Mark Cowgill, managing director of Exa Networks, said, “Exa Static 3G is a real breakthrough that gives all the flexibility of 3G mobile broadband – anytime, anyplace, anywhere - plus access to secure and filtered networks only usually available to people logging on through a land-line with a static IP address. We’re very proud of Exa Static 3G. It’s a convergence of 3G, static IP and content filtering which enhances our range of services and offers great benefits to our customers.”

Three particular markets can leverage Exa Static’s 3G service such as business with on-the-go employees who need to access organization’s internal IT systems, schools and colleges with restricted work environment having internet filtering services enabled as well as construction and security sectors who need to install secure IP-based CCTV systems in the absence of landlines. By using a data SIM card in a router, Exa Static 3G also acts as a cost-effective “failover” for DSL broadband thus providing automatic back-up of the system.

The unique feature of Exa Static 3G offering is its IP address that is used to identify computer and its location. With 3G services using different and publically inaccessible IP address with each mobile connection, remote user connecting via 3G are unable to access his or her firm’s private internal network or intranet due to blocked IP address that cannot be contacted. However, Exa Static 3G allocates an IP address that does not change, irrespective of the user’s location due to which internal system access become easy. Moreover, the integrated Exa Networks’ SurfProtect solution ensures users’ compliance with specified content filtering levels and restricts unsuitable material being accessed on the internet especially in educational establishments.
