mindWireless' Kevin Whitehurst Talks Bill Shock at ITEXPO East

By Tammy Wolf, TMCnet Copy Editor

Wireless management services provider mindWireless’ co-founder and managing partner, Kevin Whitehurst, will take on the widespread issue of unexpected bill shock during a panel at this week’s ITEXPO East 2011, being held through Friday, Feb. 4, in Miami, Fla.

As a panel expert, Whitehurst will use his expertise to discuss why spending keeps rising even when wireless service plans go down, and offer useful ideas on how enterprises can save money by deploying efficient wireless telecommunications expense management.

According to a 2010 survey performed by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, a whopping 30 million American mobile phone subscribers have received an unpredictably large bill for wireless charges. And, according to Whitehurst, the cause of this bill shock lays at the core of companies’ practices.

“Few companies perform the labor-intensive tasks of validation and optimization of wireless expenses,” said Whitehurst, a board member of the Telecom Expense Management Industry Association. “Automated telecom expense management systems, with controls on enrollment, device procurement, clear wireless usage reporting, and some tips that we will present in the session, enable organizations to reduce expenses and curb spending.”

Large companies throughout the world have used mindWireless’ wireless management services to handle their wireless devices, usage and end-user maintenance.

During 4Q 2010, mindWireless announced the addition of four new clients, adding 15,000 wireless devices to its telecommunications expense management (TEM) portfolio, as reported by TMCnet. The new additions included a human capital services and consulting firm, a children's clothing manufacturer, an oilfield services company and a manufacturer and recycler of steel and metal products. mindWireless offers services under different categories including enrollment/inventory, procurement, billing optimization, help desk and program management.

Currently in session, ITEXPO East 2011 offers an educational program to help corporate decision makers select the right IP-based voice, video, fax and unified communications solutions to improve their operations. It's also where service providers learn how to profitably roll out the services their subscribers are clamoring for – and where resellers can learn about new growth opportunities.
