ITEXPO: InGenius Connector Now Available in the AsteriskExchange

InGenius Software has announced the general availability of InGenius Connector, a new PC search-and-dial application that is designed to extend the value of Asterisk (News - Alert) Switches and Polycom VVX 1500, SoundPoint and SoundStation IP phones through the integration of telephony call control with Microsoft and Google (News - Alert) PC desktop tools.


The InGenius Connector acts as a single access point for users to instantly search for and dial contacts, in addition to easily retrieving contact information, documents and e-mails based on incoming caller ID. This application has an optional built-in softphone that has all the same outgoing and incoming PC integration features.

By making use of the open API built into Polycom phones and the Asterisk Manager Interface to Asterisk switches, the InGenius Connector enables users to connect to their Polycom phone directly, to their InGenius Connector Softphone using PC speaker and microphone or a USB phone or to any phone connected to an Asterisk switch.

Once a user is connected, he or she simply types the name of the person or business to connect with into the InGenius Connector telephony tool bar and contact matches from Outlook, Active directory or LDAP directories, Google Maps or Google Search will pop up on the screen and allow users to click to dial.

With incoming calls, users set the application to automatically open an Outlook contact, do a Windows desktop search or generate a toast-pop based on incoming caller ID. The application is an easy PC download and install, is customizable to meet individual user’s preferences, and comes with mass-deployment capabilities, making it suitable for SMB and large enterprises alike.

The exciting news today is InGenius Connector is one of the first new applications available for download and purchase through Digium’s (News - Alert) new online AsteriskExchange, just recently announced.
