Tektronix to Co-Present IMS Testing Session at ITEXPO
By Mae Kowalke, TMCnet Associate Editor
With analysts predicting that the IMS equipment market will become a multi-million dollar industry in the years to come, providers can no longer ignore the coming key role this technology will play in the telecommunications realm. As IMS deployments grow, the need for testing equipment will become even more vital.
Among the presenters of the session—scheduled for 9:30-10:15 a.m. on January 24—is Jason Steele, Product Marketing Director for Tekronix’s active test division (formerly Minacom ( News - Alert)). Steele and his co-presenters will discuss why it is necessary to conduct IMS network tests such as traffic simulation and device emulation.
The session will focus on first-stage IMS testing, which involves different formats of SIP headers, as well as handshakes for wireless, wireline, circuit-switch and packet-switched networks. Reliable delivery of service level agreements (SLAs) requires this type of testing—which ensures that handshakes occur properly, and that errors/drops/retries are responded to a in timely manner.
