Tinet Expands U.S. OperationsBy Bob Emmerson, TMC European Editor Tinet, formerly the carrier arm of the Tiscali (News - Alert) Group, claims to be the only global carrier that is exclusively committed to the IP and Ethernet wholesale market.
To back up that claim the company has added 25 long-haul backbone circuits across the U.S. and opened three additional network PoPs in Newark, Dallas and Denver. In addition, Tinet has announced the start of its third Network Operations Center, which will be completed by Q1 2010.
The company’s IP and Ethernet backbone extends across North America, Europe and Asia Pacific and has over 100 PoPs. Tinet also has the largest IPv6 network.
Maurizio Binello, Tinet’s chief operating officer, commented: “We’ve had an exciting year thus far and look forward to further network expansion next year. Through this expansion we can give customers in new markets more choice, as well as extending our geographic reach to better fulfill existing customer requirements.”
