SI3000 SMG is a well-known and field-proven signaling and media gateway from Iskratel, which was launched in October. An announcement in this regard has been made by the top innovator of media processing and wireless solutions Octasic Inc. Iskratel is a top developer of adapted and highly-integrated solutions in the field of communications for fast-growing convergent networks. A peripheral blade equipped with Vocallo MGW multi-core processor from Octasic is included in the new product version of Iskratel for voice and video over IP. Operators will be able to upgrade their infrastructure to a next-generation IP network by using Iskratel's SI3000 SMG. The operators will also be able to offer voice services with an optimal user experience as they would be still able to keep their existing equipment in place. In a press release, Matja Jelen, product manager at Iskratel said, "The deployment of softswitch-based architectures is a growing trend, but like most telecom operators, our customers have made substantial investments in their network infrastructure and aren't looking to rebuild from scratch to match this trend. Using our latest SI3000 SMG, our customers are now able to take full advantage of the new multi-core processing power for wideband codecs, audio transcoding and voice quality enhancement." Jelen added that the company can offer an all-in-one solution with Octasic's Vocallo MGW multi-core processors. The ultimate in network deployment flexibility is offered due to the high capacity, low latency audio transcoding by the multi-core processors. Vocallo MGW multi-core processor from Octasic has been equipped by Iskratel on its new SI3000 SMG blade. A broad spectrum of wideband codecs for HD voice applications are therefore offered to its customers. The customers are also offered Octasic's patented echo cancellation and voice quality enhancement algorithms. Vocallo MGW can transcode more than 400 channels from G.711 to G.729AB on a single DSP.
