Patton Adds Neocenter as Distributor for VoIP Router Equipment

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Patton , which designs, manufactures and sells data communications product, announced a strategic partnership to add Mexico-based Neocenter as a value-added distributor (VAD) for Patton’s (News - Alert) U.S.-manufactured IP networking equipment.

Company officials say the Patton-Neocenter partnership is particularly focused on driving accelerated adoption of the award-winning SmartNode line of VoIP gateways, routers, IADs and SBCs in the rapidly expanding Americas convergence market.

Patton provides business and carrier-class network access, connectivity, VoIP and mobile video-surveillance equipment. In July, Patton’s SmartNode 5200 Enterprise Session Border Router (ESBR) was named as “Product of the Year for 2009” by Technology Marketing Corporation’s Unified Communications (News - Alert) Magazine.

“We are very pleased to provide the power and quality of SmartNode equipment to our customers,” said Alejandro Apan, CEO at Neocenter, in a statement. “Today’s converged applications demand high intelligence from the network edge.”

According to Apan, a simple gateway is not enough to implement complex business rules, deliver survivability, provide any-to-any interconnection, and efficiently utilize underlying infrastructure -- all while processing and transporting converged voice, data and video. Such advanced functionality requires a very smart device.

Patton officials said the announcement comes just in time when there has been significant subscriber growth observed for Megacable’s VoIP service while Fox Sports announced a new all-IP deployment in Mexico City with VoIP links to branch-offices in Mexico, California, and Argentina earlier this month.

“The timing is perfect,” said Ernesto Casas, Patton's regional director for Latin America and the Caribbean. “VoIP technology has reached maturity. Five years ago it was still an experimental technology, but today’s Voice-over-IP deployments provide a stable communications infrastructure. Beyond reducing costs, converged-IP applications improve productivity while opening new ways to communicate and conduct daily life.”

“Neocenter emerged as a clear leader in Mexico as I conducted my research,” Casas added. “Having scoured the market for months, I discovered Alejandro’s team of local experts. Neocenter distributes not just high-quality devices, but intelligence, knowledge and know-how. Neocenter supports their downstream reseller and integrator partners with valuable business tools that accelerate learning and reduce time to market.”
