West at Home is Selected for Microsoft Office Communications Server Development Program

West at Home, a home-based customer contact solutions provider and subsidiary of West Corporation, announced it was one of 15 companies worldwide to be selected for the Microsoft (News - Alert) Communications Server "14" Developer Technology Adoption Program.

West at Home will follow the next generation of Office Communications Server and integrate its technologies into West's home agent platform. Advances in chat, instant messaging, voice, presence and other Communications Server 14 technologies will allow West at Home delivering enhanced security, improved cost efficiencies and improved management of the remote home agent workforce to clients.

West at Home's newly developed software promises to deliver increased security with its location detection platform that formalizes a home agent's physical location whenever they are online. By VoIP integration with the softphone application, the cost efficiencies and better return on investment are achieved. This allows West to manage all voice and data transactions via West at Home's secure desktop and eliminates the need for peripherals. Additional communications functions and enhanced presence capabilities will allow West at Home improving skills-based routing and causing greater efficiencies in agent management and communications.

Yancey Smith, director of communications server product management, shares that, Microsoft chose West Corporation to participate in the Technology Adoption Program of Microsoft Communications Server 14 based on the innovation West displayed using Microsoft Office Communicator 2007. Trent Larson, Vice President of product development at West Corporation said that they believe that the partnership creates new opportunities for greater service offerings and will allow West at Home continuing to expand its security suite.
