Partner Communications Deploys Jungo's OpenRG Software for its SmartBox Gateway

Israeli mobile telecoms operator, Partner Communications has selected broadband residential software solutions provider, Jungo for its OpenRG residential gateway software for the new SmartBox home gateway.

 

Deployment of gateway middleware has become very crucial today to define the end-user experience, allowing a wide range of broadband services and determining advanced features such as quality of service, security, and user interface for home network viewing and management. In addition, the gateway software also contributes to the overall device performance and reliability.

 

OpenRG offered by Jungo (News - Alert) is a middleware for residential gateways, residing in the CPE. According to the company, its unique hardware-agnostic design allows quick and cost-effective porting to new CPE platforms, thus helping service providers to deliver the latest technologies and services more quickly.

 

Partner Communications launched its SmartBox home gateway in December 2008. The current partnership will allow the company to deliver a range of capabilities as well as a platform for introducing and launching new value added services.

 

Additionally, with Jungo's remote upgrade capability, Partner Communications’ customers will enjoy advanced broadband services such as 802.11n wireless network, advanced VoIP capabilities including integrated DECT (News - Alert), call hijacking between cellular and fixed line, home media sharing and other services.

OpenRG gives operators maximum freedom in selecting gateway hardware, and flexibility for future service enhancements. Operators can thus save substantial costs when expanding and upgrading existing and future gateway designs.
