By Michael Dinan, TMCnet Editor

Aiming to showcase its cost-saving technologies at an increasingly popular event, an Israel-based maker of open source software-based business telephony products announced today that it’s participating in the 2009 Digium Asterisk World at the Internet Telephony Conference and Expo East.

Officials at Xorcom, a private manufacturer of Asterisk-based telephony interfaces and appliances, say they’ll exhibit new PBX (News - Alert) solutions and services at the ITEXPO, to be held Feb. 2 to 4 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.

Specifically, Xorcom officials say they plan to feature a new Asterisk-based PBX appliance, fail-over method, support system and branding options.

“Xorcom will make many significant announcements at the event, including the official launch of an updated low-end IP-PBX model, the XR1000,” company officials say. The model is “now based on an Intel processor introduction of a fail-over method for complete Asterisk system redundancy implementation of a new support utility that creates business opportunities for Asterisk professionals new options for Xorcom hardware branding to increase reseller value perception.”

The small business VoIP PBX system supports various combinations of telephony ports, as well as up to 16 analog phone ports, up to 50 users and up to 12 concurrent calls.

Here’s how company officials diagram the XR1000’s role in a small business's communications process:

In eyeing Digium (News - Alert) Asterisk World, Xorcom is homing in on an event that’s gained traction among telecom professionals as an educational forum that offers networking opportunities as well as the latest in open source telephony solutions through live demonstrations of new industry products.

Adding onto a list of five reasons to attend the event that Digium’s Bill Miller (News - Alert) listed here, TMC President Rich Tehrani (News - Alert) said in a recent blog entry that the event also said DAW-goers can attend collocated events ITEXPO and 4GWE, see the entire communications market in one place, learn how to navigate a tough economy by speaking with others facing similar challenges and save money by deploying the latest technology.

“You can gauge the hot areas of the market based on exhibit hall and conference buzz – this is an invaluable opportunity which can help save tens of millions of wasted development dollars,” Tehrani said.

Xorcom is a silver sponsor of Digium Asterisk World, and its vice president of marketing, Ruth Bridger, is helping host a panel session, “Enterprise Pitfalls: Lessons Learned,” at 4 p.m. on Feb. 2. The company is also delivering a presentation, “True Redundancy Solution for Asterisk PBX with Multiple Telephony Interfaces,” at 1 p.m. on Feb. 4 in the main Presentation Theater.

Xorcom is a Silver sponsor of Internet Telephony Conference & EXPO — the biggest and most comprehensive IP communications event of the year. ITEXPO (News - Alert) will take place in Miami, Florida, Feb. 2 to 4, 2009, featuring three valuable days of exhibits, conferences, and networking opportunities you can’t afford to miss. Don’t wait.
