Fueled by VoIP Adoption, PBX Revenue to Exceed $7.5 Billion in 2011
By Johanne Torres, TMCnet Contributing Editor
A recent report by Dell' (News - Alert)Oro Group reveals that total PBX revenues are projected to exceed a staggering $7.5 billion annually by 2011. The firm believes that this leap might be fueled by the increasing demand of VoIP services. Dell'Oro Group's analysts forecast VoIP services' popularity to continue to grow steadily for all businesses, regardless of size.
"Large enterprises have led the way in the deployment of IP telephony, and now we are seeing small and mid-sized business also realizing the benefits of VoIP," noted Dell'Oro Group's analyst of IP Telephony Enterprise Research Alan Weckel in a statement. "Large enterprises are now testing the waters with Unified Communications solutions that promise to provide users with a cohesive communications experience in which voice, instant messaging, video, and email are integrated together," Weckel added.
If you have a large enterprise and would like to explore further how your business can benefit from a VoIP deployment, be sure to check out "IP-Based Collaboration Tools in the Enterprise," a session featured at this year's INTERNET TELEPHONY Conference & EXPO East taking place this week, January 23-26, 2007 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The session, taking place tomorrow, Friday, January 26th, at 11am, will be presented by Rick Ringel from Inter-Tel (News - Alert).
Dell'Oro Group expects PBX (News - Alert) market revenues to continue growing over the next five years and forecasts strong sales of IP PBXs.
The firm, however, does not have such a great prediction (revenue-wise) for Hybrid IP/TDM PBXs. Analysts foresee revenues for this segment declining starting in 2010, and by 2011, traditional PBXs are projected to make up less than 5 percent of the total market revenues.
