China VoIP & Digital Telecom Adds More "Telephone Cafes"
By Michelle Amodio, TMCnet Associate Editor
With an economy growing at high speeds, the people in the Republic of China are migrating to bigger, more popular cities in search of jobs and a better life. But because they are often far from their families, making cost-effective phone calls isn’t always an option, particularly when a citizen is at the mercy of a payphone.
Backed by the power of VoIP , China VoIP & Digital Telecom Inc. Jinan Yinquan Technology Co, a subsidiary of China VoIP & Digital Telecom Inc. has opened 30 retail calling facilities, or “telephone cafes” in Shandong Province. These facilities provide a place to make affordable calls in a pleasant atmosphere for citizens wishing to call home and touch base with their families. The company now has a total of 50 of these amenities in and around the region.
Jinan Yinquan’s proprietary NP Soft Switch IP telephone system powers the already-available service. NGN Soft Switch System is based on the Internet real-time communication technology and the relevant application of that technology, which simulates the circuit switch by the software, and provides the NGN with calling control and connection control function as required by the real-time services.
“To understand the potential for VoIP technology in China you have to only look at the numbers,” said Li Kunwu, President and CEO of China VoIP & Digital Telecom Inc. “There are 1.3 billion people in the country and only 25 percent are landline subscribers. While less than 10 percent of the total population have access to the Internet that number is growing exponentially. Put the growing demand for quality, affordable telephone service with ever increasing Internet availability and it adds up to VoIP as the most viable means to satisfy that demand.”
Jinan Yinquan is the exclusive agent of China Tie Tong softswitch telephone service and is one of the six largest telecom operators in China.
