Toshiba (
News -
Alert) launched the Toshiba Strata IPT2010-SDC IP Desk Telephone today, a new IP-based desk phone targeted at small to medium-sized businesses. The system features an Analog CO
line interface for local dialing, including emergency calls. The phone is also compatible with the company’s Strata CIX suite of IP business communication systems.
Toshiba’s new Strata IPT2010-SDC features a two-line by 24-character LCD so users can better view info as Caller ID and feature prompting. The device also features a full-duplex speakerphone; a handset/headset choice, off-hook dialing, hands-free use (not supported in analog CO mode), and ring tones (different for IP
and analog lines).
The device is also compatible with Toshiba’s older Strata CTX systems which support IP interface units.
The phone is currently available and it is reportedly
retailing at $370.
Toshiba points out that it was key for the company to make sure that it also gave analog access to enterprise users.
“While we are fully committed to VoIP
solutions, we recognize that CO lines are still an important part of enterprise calling needs, particularly for important emergency calls,” said Brian Metherell, vice president and general manager of Toshiba’s Telecommunication Systems Division in a statement. “For this reason, we built analog CO line capabilities into our newest IP telephone, along with Toshiba's full feature set in a robust, reliable business telephone.”
