Boston Scientific Distributes CRM Products in Japan

Boston Scientific Corporation’s subsidiary, Boston Scientific Japan K.K., has inked a deal with Fukuda Denshi Co., Ltd. to market and sell its cardiac rhythm management (CRM) devices and accessories throughout Japan.

Boston Scientific develops implantable devices used to treat cardiac arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms), sudden cardiac arrest and heart failure. The company's advanced product portfolio includes pacemakers, implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs), cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators (CRT-Ds), cardiac leads and patient management systems.

Fukuda Denshi specializes in the research and development, manufacture and sale of medical electronics equipment. 

The distribution will begin this quarter.

Fukuda Denshi's extensive sales resources, distribution network and service capabilities will complement Boston Scientific's existing sales and marketing organization.

This agreement will also allow the company to reach significantly more accounts and expand the service it offers to its customers in Japan.

In another announcement Boston Scientific informed the signing of a definitive merger agreement, under which the Company will acquire Atritech, Inc., a privately held company based in Plymouth, Minnesota.
