Gartner Sees Broadvox as 'Visionary' Unified Communications Vendor

By David Sims, TMCnet Contributing Editor

Noted analyst firm Gartner has put Broadvox, a seller of hosted Unified Communications tools, in the Visionaries quadrant of the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications as a Service, North America report. Broadvox will exhibit at this week’s ITEXPO East 2011, being held at the Miami Convention Center Feb. 2 to 4.

Gartner analysts Daniel O’Connell and Bern Elliot wrote that vendors in the Visionaries quadrant "demonstrate a clear understanding of the UCaaS market and offer a strong and differentiating approach to one or more core areas. However, these vendors have limited ability to execute across the entire set of UCaaS requirements, or possess other notable limitations relative to the size of customer accounts, geography, distribution or marketing which preclude them from challenging established leaders.”

Frank Grillo (News - Alert), executive vice president of Product Marketing and Implementation Services, said the company invests "to provide customers communications tools with great customer service.”

A couple weeks ago, Broadvox and Cypress Communications (News - Alert) announced the completion of their merger. "The merged company will be identified as Broadvox, while retaining Cypress as a distinguished brand of the Broadvox service offerings,” officials of both firms said.

“The merger between Broadvox and Cypress combines complementary product portfolios well-suited to compete in today’s emerging Unified Communications marketplace,” stated Brent Kelly, senior analyst and partner at Wainhouse (News - Alert) Research, adding that the combined company offers "a broader range of services that spans carriers, premises-based tools, and hosted UC for SMB and enterprise customers.”

This year Broadvox officials will speak as part of Ingate's conference at ITEXPO East, the SIP Trunk-Unified Communications Summit, and this year the event is "bigger than ever," according to the company. This popular educational series, free to all ITEXPO (News - Alert) attendees and attendees, will offer participants a chance to hear from Aastra, ShoreTel and Broadvox, as well as Bandwidth.com, Commetrex, EarthLink Business, FaxCore, Intertex (News - Alert) Data AB, Qwest Business, SIP Forum, the Unified Communications Interoperability Forum (UCIF) and VOIPSA. Visit Broadvox at booth #606.
