XO Communications Debuts Ethernet Hub Service for Carriers

By Jai C.S., TMCnet Contributing Editor

XO Communications (News - Alert) has launched its Ethernet Hub service for domestic and international carriers, helping them to further expand the reach of their Ethernet services in the United States.

Ethernet Hub is a device where all lines on an Ethernet segment are plugged into. This device connects multiple twisted pair or fiber optic Ethernet devices together, enabling them to function as a single segment. Ethernet is one of the preferred networking solutions available today since it is cost effective, easy to use and flexible.

XO Communications provides voice over Internet protocol (VoIP), Data and Internet, Network Transport, Managed, Hosting and Fixed Wireless Access services for businesses and communications service providers. XO's Ethernet Hub supports Ethernet bandwidth options, ranging from 5Mbps to 10Gbps.

The company said that its Ethernet Hub offers dedicated access to XO's Ethernet footprint, including Ethernet over Copper, through a single connection.

"XO Communications is dedicated to meeting the growing technology and bandwidth needs of our customers and carriers. By offering the new Ethernet Hub, we are continuing to push our technology forward, providing our clients with the most innovative and advanced solutions across our large Ethernet footprint," said Ernie Ortega, president of XO Carrier Services.

Ortega also mentioned that XO is at the forefront of maximizing an existing and widely used technology, Ethernet, to grow and scale its customers' delivery of Ethernet services to their end-users.

XO is focusing on making Ethernet as the most practical, cost-effective solution for extending Local and Wide Area Network as well as transporting voice and data services. Their nationwide network connects 75 major metropolitan markets across the United States.

Additionally, XO Communications has approximately one million miles of metro fiber networks in major markets across the country. With its extensive nationwide and metro fiber network assets and unrivaled Ethernet over Copper capabilities, XO offers its customers services that allow the door-to-door delivery of Ethernet.
