In order to provide those in the SMB space the trusted security offered by biometric technologies, DigitalPersona Inc., a provider of fingerprint authentication solutions for enterprise networks and commercial applications has released DigitalPersona Pro SBS Edition.

The new release is targeted specifically at SMB users, particularly companies of 75 or less and provides fingerprint-enabled, secure sign-on and password management for Microsoft (News - Alert) Windows Small Business Server 2003 R2," a news release noted.

With the solution, small business users can better handle network-wide security for their businesses as well as rest assured they are meeting compliance needs while also keeping cost sensible.

DigitalPersona Pro supports fingerprint-enabled notebooks including models from Dell (News - Alert), HP, IBM/Lenovo, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.

Offered in two bundle options, DigitalPersona Pro SBS Edition customers can choose between a software only package that includes the server and workstation for those businesses utilizing fingerprint enabled notebooks, or a full package bundle that also includes DigitalPersona's U.are.U Fingerprint Readers.

"DigitalPersona Pro SBS works very well on Microsoft Windows SBS 2003," said Steve Lennox, vice president at Premiere System Solutions in a statement to the press. "It's great that the Small Business Server community can reap the benefits of security and ease of use that were, until now, only available to larger organizations."

Amr Assal, senior product marketing manager at DigitalPersona also commented, “DigitalPersona Pro SBS addresses a growing market demand for an out-of-the-box and cost-effective fingerprint authentication solution that delivers convenience, strong network security and assists with regulatory compliance.”

Last month the company made headlines when they announced support for Microsoft Vista and Internet Explorer 7 was added to the latest version of the DigitalPersona Pro 4.2 software. The new release also included two additional add-on updated applications: One-Touch Crypto and One Touch CSP (News - Alert).
