PCTEL (News - Alert) has announced the launch of SeeWave, an interference detection and location system.
Interference on 4G LTE network deployments can impact network performance, significantly reduce data throughput rates and quality of service.
Potential sources of interference include a wide range from fluorescent lights to garage door openers to unlicensed radio signals.
SeeWave has been designed to streamline the expensive and extremely time consuming crucial step in restoring network performance, detecting and locating interfering signals. Some of the key features of SeeWave include, advanced spectrum analysis measurements, charting options and proprietary algorithms to identify frequency of external or internal interference signal. In addition, it locates the exact position of interference by triangulation using the scanner’s collected data; and adds it to existing hardware to avoid additional equipment expenditures.
The application, utilizing PCTEL's SeeGull scanning receiver, helps the host platform to connect the scanner to both a direction-finding PCTEL antenna and a touchscreen tablet. The easy-to-use touchscreen application allows users to modify analysis settings and adjust parameters in real-time.
David Neumann, vice president and general manager of RF Solutions at PCTEL said, “As spectrum allocations evolve and frequency bands are re-farmed, interference becomes increasingly disruptive to mobile networks. SeeWave helps operators eliminate quality robbing interferers and optimize network performance. Customers can use SeeWave with current scanning receivers, thus leveraging their initial PCTEL investment in SeeGull scanners.”
