Huawei Deploys 3G Wireless Network in Chicago for CricketBy Anuradha Shukla, TMCnet Contributing Editor Huawei Technologies has deployed a 3G wireless network in Chicago, Ill. for Cricket Communications, a subsidiary of Leap Wireless International.
The Chicago deployment follows a successful launch in Milwaukee, Wisc. last fall. Leap Wireless International (News - Alert), Inc., is a provider of innovative and value-driven wireless communications services. Glenn Umetsu, executive vice president and chief technical officer of Leap noted the impressive track record of Huawei (News - Alert) that already successfully deployed solutions for their Northwest markets in 2007.
“We are honored to support Cricket’s expansion into Chicago, the third largest city in the United States,” said Ken Hu, chief sales and service officer of Huawei. The company values the long-term relationship they have with Cricket, and believes they have achieved an important milestone to support their customers in North American markets.
Huawei Technologies provides next-generation telecommunication solutions to operators around the world. The company has also announced the successful implementation of a replacement of T-Mobile Austria' s core data network 3 months ahead of planned schedule. According to officials, Huawei' s advanced intelligent packet switch platform exactly matched T-Mobile' (News - Alert) s needs to meet the burgeoning demand for mobile broadband services.
T-Mobile appreciates Huawei for delivering smooth integration, quality and performance. Speaking about this achievement, Cai Liqun, president of Huawei Core Network said that the packet core will help T-Mobile maintain its market position in the mobile Internet era and is an outstanding example of the large-scale commercial application of a new-generation packet core network.
