Covad Earns Praise for Service Supporting IP-PBXs, SIP TrunkingBy Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor Covad reportedly says its Integrated Access service has won a “Member’s Choice” award from the Telecom Association, a professional group of 3,200 telecom distributors.
The service allows the companies to provide a voice-optimized T1 line for customers. It also helps companies to utilize their business investment to the fullest as they can work with customers’ existing phone systems. Supporting a variety of IP, digital and analog PBXs, Covad (News - Alert) Integrated Access makes use SIP trunking.
The Telecom Association believes that the winner’s channel partner and customer service programs also stand to gain when a company wins Telecom Association’s annual ‘Members Choice’ award. The group says that it has very high standards to vote a company and the members vote for a company only when they feel that a company has been doing an exceptional job.
“Covad is proud to receive this recognition of our commitment to quality service offerings that our channel partners can use to meet the specific needs of small business customers across the country,” said Jake Heinz, vice president, Covad VoIP Product Group. “Covad has recently completed network upgrades and a nationwide MPLS deployment to enable our partners to deliver even more advanced video, voice and data services going forward.”
Covad also managed to finish in the top five in the Carrier, Data Internet and Fixed Wireless categories. The company’s hosted VoIP offering also placed in the top ten. Covad has many carrier partners including Sprint (News - Alert), Verizon, AT&T, and EarthLink. The company also has many agent and Master Agent resellers, including Telarus, another Telecom Association winner.
Recently, enabling its partners to deliver advanced video, voice and data services, Covad completed a nationwide multiprotocol label switching deployment and network capacity upgrade. The upgrades include metro optical rings with up to OC-192 capacity. With this, Covad expects to provide Quality of Service capabilities that can be customized for real-time applications – voice and video.
