By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributing Editor
Extending the unified communications platform to BlackBerrys WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft ( News - Alert) Office Communications, WebMessenger, a provider of enterprise mobile communications solutions, announced commercial availability of its Mobile for Microsoft Office Communications Server (OCS) solution. This means companies can enhance their investments in Microsoft’s unified communications (UC) platform by extending its reach to BlackBerry ( News - Alert) mobile devices.
The Mobile for Microsoft OCS solution provides mobile UC tools that provide many benefits such as increased employee productivity, reduction in operational expenses and increase workplace appeal to tech-savvy, younger recruits. With these features, companies can now look to deploy and encourage the use of Microsoft OCS and BlackBerries throughout their organizations.
Microsoft OCS manages all real-time (synchronous) communications including instant messaging, VoIP , audio and video conferencing. Companies can now deploy advanced VoIP and conferencing without disturbing their legacy phone networks as the solution works with existing tele-communications systems. Microsoft OCS also powers presence, which unites all the contact information stored in Active Directory with the ways people communicate. With presence, you can see at-a-glance if someone is available and contact them with a click.
“With today’s announcement WebMessenger is seeking to capitalize on two very fast-moving and high-growth industry trends,” said Joe Naylor, WebMessenger President. “First, adoption of Microsoft OCS in the enterprise is increasing rapidly. Second, Research in Motion ( News - Alert) continues to saturate the market with BlackBerry devices.”
Naylor continued: “At the intersection of these trends is the critical need enterprises have to mobilize Microsoft OCS out to BlackBerry units. WebMessenger currently is the only vendor delivering a solution that fills this gap. We expect demand for WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS to be extraordinarily high in the coming months, as enterprise adoption of Microsoft OCS and BlackBerrys continue to rise.”
Companies can maximize their return on investment in Microsoft OCS with the help of WebMessenger Mobile for Microsoft OCS is deployed as an on-premise enterprise solution and can be used by itself or in conjunction with other WebMessenger Mobile solutions.
